The optimum for the city
During the development of the Kwiggle, we tested everything from 8-inch to 10-inch and 20-inch wheels.
We found that 12-inch wheels offer an optimal compromise between ride comfort and maneuverability.
Even though millions of people ride through cities on 8-inch or 10-inch e-scooters, we wanted to achieve even more riding comfort and safety.
16- and 20-inch wheels do have a slight advantage in terms of comfort, but this is clearly at the expense of maneuverability -
which is particularly important in busy cities.
In order to achieve a comparable level of comfort with 12-inch wheels, we deliberately chose wide tires with 50 mm,
to ride just as comfortably on uneven roads as with larger wheels.
The result: an amazingly comfortable ride!
By the way: Our patented drive ensures that you don't have to pedal any faster with our 12-inch wheels than with larger wheels.
The new lightness of cycling
Upright cycling is better cycling.
If you ride upright, you need fewer gears. Why? The smaller gears are for riding uphill. If you ride uphill standing up, you shift into a heavier gear and let your weight do the work. Therefore, the upright Kwiggler comes already with 3 gears up the same mountains as another folding bike with 6 gears.
Normally when cycling, the upper body is constantly in an forward leaning position. Back, shoulders and wrists are strained.
When riding upright on the Kwiggle, on the other hand, all muscles remain relaxed and in motion, the joints are relieved and in the standing sitting position you bring more pressure on the pedals and thus you can ride faster with less effort than with ordinary folding bikes.
